DevOps Engineer - Infrastructure and Security

Vision Media is looking for a motivated and hands-on DevOps Engineer to support and improve our AWS infrastructure, deployment processes, and overall platform reliability.
This role is focused on execution and improvement. You will be working in an environment that includes a mix of legacy and modern systems, with opportunities to standardize deployments, improve automation, and strengthen our infrastructure over time. You will partner closely with development leadership on security and compliance efforts, while helping to drive day-to-day infrastructure improvements. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys improving real-world systems, solving practical problems, and growing into greater ownership over time.
Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Cloud (AWS)
- Support and improve AWS infrastructure (EC2, S3, CloudFront, RDS, IAM)
- Assist in improving system reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency
- Help increase visibility into system architecture and environments
Deployment & Automation
- Help implement standardized deployment processes
- Support CI/CD pipeline improvements and automation efforts
- Reduce reliance on manual server access where possible
Security & Compliance
- Partner with leadership to address security findings and improvements
- Assist in remediation of vulnerabilities and system hardening
- Support ongoing compliance efforts (SOC2, client requirements)
Legacy & Modern Systems
- Work across a mixed environment, including legacy PHP systems and newer services
- Support ongoing modernization efforts
- Balance immediate fixes with longer-term improvements
Monitoring & Troubleshooting
- Assist with monitoring, alerting, and logging improvements
- Troubleshoot production issues as needed
Documentation
- Help create and maintain infrastructure documentation
- Contribute to improving team understanding of systems and deployments
Qualifications/Experience Requirements
Must-Have
- Experience with AWS (EC2, S3, IAM, networking basics)
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar)
- Experience with CI/CD concepts or tools
- Strong Linux experience (Ubuntu preferred)
- Must have scripting ability (Python, Bash, or similar)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a natural inclination to prospect and develop leads
- Comfort working in real-world production environments
Nice to Have
- Exposure to security practices or compliance environments
- Experience reducing manual infrastructure processes
- Familiarity with PHP-based applications
- Experience with monitoring tools or logging systems
