Accessibility Specifications
We follow the below definitions of captions, subtitles, and audio descriptions:
Captions are text-based representations of spoken dialogue and relevant sounds in a video, encompassing details about background noises, music, and speaker identification.
- Two captioning forms exist: open and closed captions
- Open captions are integrated into the video and cannot be turned off (provided on video delivery)
- Closed captions (CC) can be disabled by the viewer on the video player (supported by Screener Passport)
Subtitles are text overlays on a video that provide a translation of the spoken language or a transcription of the dialogue, typically utilized for foreign language films or videos in diverse language contexts.
Audio descriptions are supplementary narrations detailing visual elements, actions, and scene changes in a video, aiding individuals who are blind or visually impaired, offering a comprehensive understanding of the visual content.
All of the above features expand inclusivity, allowing viewers to enable or disable options based on their preferences.
Caption & Subtitles Guidelines
Caption and subtitle file names should only include letters (upper or lower case), numbers, dashes [ - ] and underscores [ _]
Captions should be submitted in sentence case (mixed case, not upper case).
